Our Landscape Design Process

Interview: Please fill out the Contact Form to describe your “Big Idea” and leave your contact information, timeline, anticipated budget, and any important details of your project investigations to date.

We can begin an email dialogue as a Questionnaire is sent to you with some important follow-up questions, along with the start of the one-page Landscape Design Agreement to be finalized based on the scope of services and anticipated timeline to work through the design process together. We can coordinate times to visit and and discuss the site together in a consultation as we gather information, surveys, house plants, etc., that helps to set the required design hours.

Designs are contracted in blocks of hours that include one site visit and are set at a rate that is tiered at 2 levels. One level is a “Design Only” request which is at a slightly higher hourly rate for a block of time. The other level is the “Design-Build” program offered at a slightly lower hourly rate if the project is to be monitored through the construction process. Blocks of time will then be set as an extended Design Fee at this reduced rate to reserve time to supervise and help coordinate the project on site.

The Design Fee will be provided after the Questionnaire information is gathered and the “Big Idea” is evaluated along with the complexity of the site and possible permit requirements.  We will factor in the site surveys, aerial photography, contour mapping, and lot survey information as gathered. But the goal is to be fair and honest, to be reasonably priced, and to stay busy with design hours.  And, to ensure that your project is handled with vetted expert crews capable of making the installation a resounding success and ensure your pride and enjoyment for years to come. Landscapes often start in a juvenile stage and grow into maturity. It is important for us to establish and develop a longer relationship than just its initial construction. We want to help you through that establishment phase as we give you the keys and owner’s manual to your new landscape.

But the Landscape Design Agreement can be customized to serve your needs and allow you to help pull the levers and toggle how extensive and how much time will be invested into the design process. We can determine together the most helpful way to serve you and your needs.
